Funding Criteria - JACS General Fund  

The application process is open to all 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations or groups with a 501(c)(3) organization as its fiscal agent, with special consideration given to community-based organizations or projects with the following characteristics:

* Serving the Asian American and Pacific Islander community in Southern California, including Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, with particular emphasis on the Japanese American community
* Focus on
community service, health and human services, and leadership development
* Arts organizations, individual artists and arts-related projects should apply to the Cecilia Nakamura Arts Fund
* In existence less than five years
* Operating budgets less than $250,000 (excluding fiscal agent)

Groups can apply for grants funding up to $3,500.  All funding decisions are made by the Board of Trustees of JACS. All decisions are final, and there is no appeal process.

Funding Cycle

New funding cycle for 2008:

Applications are accepted from October 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009.
Grant awards to be announced by June 1, 2009.
